Thoughts my ass, I asked Ronnie about his lyrics, we are the innocent, we are the damned, we are caught in the middle of the madness, hunted by the lion and the lamb.
His response was simple.
Jesus is both the lion and the lamb. (the bible tells us)
Jesus is the lamb of salvation, he is also the lion of the tribe of Judah with sharp teeth.
If you accept Jesus before you die he is the Lamb of God who saves you.
If you do not accept Jesus before you die he will become the Lion who tears you apart and sends you to hell.
When I asked Ronnie if this is what he thinks he said, I do not know what to think. That is what I read in the Bible.
@truth311 tis not if you accept Jesus at the end; yes, Jesus is the redeemer, king of kings and lord. but you must try to live without sin: the doors will never open to the child without an ounce of sin; meaning the doors of hell.. Jesus give you anew; you have to change for the better.. an be sinless( to the best of our ability) but I like your comment. it's mostly truthful I feel.

@truth311 I am not sure what Dio meant by this song; I have listened to it for years, but some of the lyrics do point against God direction e.g. "all the fools sailed away" could imply Noah's ark. I also did not like the peace and horns symbol thereafter (with the angry face). I been a rocker all my life and I came here after jamming to this song and others by DIO, but I never used the horns because I believe it represents Satan. My belief, I am sticking to it (smile).

With that said,...
With that said, I did want to address the doctrine part of your post as well. Jesus is the Lamb of God; He is also the Lion of Judah. He will come back and meet Christians in the air to go to war against evil, but right now Jesus and His Father want all to come to know the truth--they are loved by God.
Hell and heaven both exist right now; God wants us to choose life and not death. God prepared hell for Satan and his fallen angels. Jesus prepared a place for us and that place is called heaven (remember the mansions scripture). Choose heaven, that is the guts of it. There had to be a place where evil had to go anyways; there will be no evil in heaven. John 3:16-17 and other scriptures are clear, God does not want to send anyone to hell. He wants them to know truth--He loves them- and for them to turn from evil...

RIP Ronnie, I hope you know the Lamb of God!
