To be honest I think the song is about mental illness. Psychopathy doesn't have to lead to violence. The lyrics read strongly of someone who is unwell mentally and they are misreading cues in conversations taking the other party's words to be in anger even when they are not.
The speaker is thinking up scenarios in their head based on intrusive thoughts and then judging the real world and others as if they occurred, but they are perhaps hesitant to have a mental illness label applied to them.
