The best thing about their songs on this album is that it has an alien themed story, whether that means they're a metaphor for something else or if it's quite literal. You can always view it from either the aliens PoV or humanity's PoV (there are exceptions on some of their songs of course). But I found out what's really interesting is that all the screaming and clean singing in all of their songs is really (structured?). It's not just some screaming here and then clean singing there (although it kinda IS like that sometimes). So the singing aspects, I feel, also play a part in the story their trying to convey.
Wow now that we got that out of the way let's get interpreting!
Let this battle commence one last time
Let this battle commence one last time
Let this battle commence one last time
(And I hope for your sake, that your on our side)
Let this battle commence one last time
(And I hope for your sake, that your on our side)
So this, like I have stated before up top, can be either alien/human PoV. And this isn't the first time this 'battle'' has been waged: hence 'One last time'.
(One last time = again) So whomever is declaring the battle has obviously had experience with this before, and they also say, whether this is to the one who is participating in this battle: 'And I hope for your sake, that your on our side'. This means that they hope they will fight for their cause and prove their on the same side.
Look what you've done to yourself
Yeah you've lost the will to do what's right again
Look what you've done to yourself
We were shy
This could either be from the aliens or humans PoV. They're saying to the protagonist (whomever the protagonist might be) that, assuming they were on a path to ruining their life, they are disappointed in the life the protagonists were leading, and feel the aliens/humans feel like they had given them second chances and the protagonist squandered them. The A/H/s stood back and let things run their course, either because they were anxious or fearful to step in and stop the chaos that's being caused, or in curiosity just to see what would happen to lead up to this point.
We try to communicate
We've got no patience
Let's reclaim this throne
Why should we negotiate
Let's finish this now!
The A/H/s have warned the __s of their behavior clear and bluntly, but it seems that they failed with getting the message through. So in a fit of frustration, they were like: "ya know, even though we warned the ____s very boldly about the _____ that's happening (they're causing), they're making it even worse!" and so they decide that warning them once more isn't going to solve anything, so the only option they have that will turn the tables: engaging in combat!
The time has come to think again
To think again
The opposing side is speaking directly to the protagonist, urging them to reconsider the consequences and take their side instead.
OK, time for plan B
This means war!
This means war!
This means war!
This means war!
The A/H/s have finally decided that negotiating didn't help at all, so they switch plans and declare combat upon the opponent. They decide to use Plan B, whatever this Plan B is (destruction, enslavement or some other means of chaos)
Everyone freezes and waits for the earth to move
Everyone freezes and waits for the ground to shake
