What happens, especially nowadays, is that people get drawn towards and addicted to external stimuli whereby they turn away from and negate their Selves and end up with the dire and painful misfunctioning and misfiring of the necessary constructs of Self. All of the innate foundational elements that must be regulated, stable, and functioning optimally, such as happiness, inner balance, deep clear stable thought, opinions, knowledge, understanding, wisdom, reflexes, being present, abilities, talents, contributions, dreams, desires, goals, etc. go down the drain and one is left with chaos and sufferation when one is running away himself.
