And I woudn't have such a shallow interpretation of what 'mirror" and "reflection" are - arguing that's about image. This was writen in 1977, by a german; it's not a 2019 pop song.
The delay and reverb effects evoke an introspective atmosphere and, in addition to that, the minor tonality (E minor) too. Also the cadence/pulse of the song corroborates this thought.
