International came out at a time when Communist Eastern European radio stations, mainly Radio Moscow, would find news, or possibly fake news, that discredited Western values and showed that Democracy was worse than Communism, in particular, tolerant of fascism. This example of Veronika Merkoff, shows that a West German girl, apparently personally "guarded" by Somoza "guards", was horribly mutilated by police or military in a pro-Western state.

My Interpretation

@vulcanbiscuit I mean, isn't it true to a sense because alot of South American dictatorships were brutal?

Regardless of whether communism is worse than democracy, those things still happened and alot of those dictatorships were horrible places.

@vulcanbiscuit @cosmichands The Soviet Union used to host these conferences with names like "Youth Anti-Imperialst Tribune" where people could discuss how horrible the west was. So yeah, they talked about horrible dictatorships chopping off innocent children's hands. But that second clip of the worman speaking in German doesn't seem to really relate to the first clip about the Anti Imperialst Tribune. It's someone talking about receiving industrial-vocational training.

I don't think Veronika Merkoff was the victims name, I think she was probably a conference attendee which had been interviewed about the conference and this speech in particular, but...
