I belive this song is a metaphor for a fail long distance relationship and he felt out of love and couldn't do much to help her so he stop the communication and when the time came for him to face her , he doesn't want to hurt her more yet he still doesn't feel anything and his love has faded and he admits that she does " know " love while he has never really allow love in to him and there's just hurt in his words and not hurt to him but to what he has done to her, as she is a real light house.
