I believe the song centers around substance abuse. We can clearly see the array of alcohol bottles across the apartment and him sleeping the night off while she gathers her things. Then she proceeds to leave the note saying “ If you can’t see you, I can’t see you” which to me is a ultimatum to get his s#&t together or she has to move on for good. However the end leaves a lot unanswered because of what he wrote in his letter, “ this will be my final goodbye” which apparently he is having hand delivered....so does that mean the final goodbye from him as a addict because he’s going to get help?
