The song is about Oli's divorce with his ex wife and how she treated him after they had divorced. She had dragged him through the dirt and told people that he had done horrible things (which were untrue) whilst he was trying to not bring it up and stay out of everything, basically just ignoring all of it.
The song in general is a wonderful theme for those of us who have dealt with similar situations. A significant other treats you like crap, whether it be physical abuse, manipulation, emotional abuse, etc etc, and you attempt to give them another chance, or you feel like maybe things can change, or you think that it was a one time thing, yet nothing changes. so you finally break it off, and they turn around and tell lies about you. They treat you as if you were the one in the wrong.
