I really feel like the song is rooted in an experience. I think the song is about going to visit a site associated with an artist that was respected and loved... And finding a commercial enterprise in a place where maybe reference was expected. While I really think this is about a specific musical artist who has passed, I feel like the idea, the emotion could be about any of the great artists whose possetions were sold after death, whose homes became museums...scenes where posers can be found, supposedly to honor the artist, but really to assert that they somehow belong in the company of those who really revered the artist.
