I wonder... at the end, Sylvia's mother says "Sylvia's hurrying she's catching the nine o'clock train"

Is Sylvia's mother actually telling the caller that he could say his final good-bye at the train station?

@AmyBHive My thoughts are that Sylvia's mother does not want Sylvia to know this guys on the phone. i think dude ran out on Sylvia at some point, breaking her heart. as for meeting Sylvia at the train station to say goodbye . . . . if the operator wants " FORTY cents more for the next THREE MINUTES " he is a great distance away. if Sylvia leaves without talking to dude, dude has lost her forever, unless of course she somehow decides to try tracking him down.

@AmyBHive I agree. I always liked to think that Sylvias mother took a liking to him at the end. Giving him another chance.
