It drives me crazy when people want to jump in here and say “you’re all wrong and stupid” basically, but then do not offer anything of value. I mean, if you are going to jump on everyone’s theories, at least back it up with something...
I would say that even if it isn’t ‘about’ JFK or John Lennon, it does have something to do with them, since Manson is pointing to them directly. The themes across the album are apparent, yes, but what other conclusions can we draw?
Anyway, I am sort of confused as to the deeper meaning myself. One thing I didn’t really see mentioned as I was reading the comments (I could be wrong) is, when he says Jack, he could be refering to JFK, as his nickname was Jack.
“The Camera will make you God, that’s how Jack became sainted.” To me it makes sense in this way, because the camera made JFK god, he was the president to really be on camera back when it was not as common to see the president on camera all of the time. America still seems to think that he wasone of the most influential presidents. Though, had he lived and completed his term, maybe we wouldn’t look at him this way.
For some reason I always thought that Manson was arguing with Lennon’s song Imagine, when he says the world will live as one. Manson is saying, no, nothing is going to change the world.
We keep going backwards, becoming enveloped in the media, and our own devices. We know that it is getting worse, yet we keep doing it.
