Disclaimer: I know this is not the real meaning...but when I heard the song this is how I interpreted it...so no judgement please:)
I think of this song as referring to domestic abuse. She starts out by saying that she feels alone and "so cold", while someone else (I'm guessing her ex-significant-other) is somewhere else. She says that "this house no longer feels like home," and to me that meant that after a while of being in a relationship with this person, he has started to abuse her. Although, what he did was awful and cruel, she is fighting two feelings...first of all being mentally (and physically) scarred and burnt out, and being relieved that he's finally leaving...but she also still loves him, as weird as that sounds. She calls him, because she can't handle being without him...and finds out that he left her for somebody else. She feels even worse now, and her "heart is bleeding" because she feels emotionally and physically pained. She can't figure out why she still wants him, so she just feels confused and left with no answers. Her house doesn't feel the same because without his energy it is much colder, and from all of the emotional and physical trauma she's been through.
Sorry that was super long and thank you for reading if you did:) have a great day and if this is happening to you please tell someone...for your own safety:))
@MaiaGoldring this song was written by Taryn Bosman in South Africa for our friends funeral. And yes she did love him dearly but their relationship didn't work. So you are all wrong on your comments.
