Aeroplane Lyrics

Been listening to this great song idly, and the lyrics didn't translate for me until I was lying in bed idly thinking about them!

I don't know if there's an official meaning, but to me the song seems to express a longing for the things of youth. The references in each verse seem to all be made about the things of one's teen years: paper aeroplanes, wet dreams, ice cream, 45" records.

Then comes the sense of loss, sadness, and even panic, at the end of the chorus: "All I want is vanishing", sung as the chord changes to the minor.

Also, as far as one can know, Curt and Roland still hadn't healed their rift when it was written (1998/99), so it might well be about that apparent loss also, when you consider the words of the verses.

Great track. Good to know that those two boys made friends again at the turn of the century. All's well that ends well!
