When I listen to this song and read the lyrics, it reminded me of something that I experienced recently. Its the emotional wave that hits when you have some connection with someone but it might be rose colored glasses or just an early emotional stage, when initially the other person acts as if they are head over heals for you. As you are drawn in deeper, you open up your vulnerabilities and let the person in. Then they do the slow fade or act as if things never were or are in some way hot one day and cold the next. You are left in the dark as to what the fuck happened and pull away to protect yourself. The aspect of screw you and your vices, for me is about how one person opens up to reveal themselves and their life in an attempt to establish a deeper connection and then rather than the other person open up themselves, they pull away. You are left wondering who they are underneath while left holding the bag emotionally. You have no answers and walk away to protect your heart.
