I think this song is about long-term depression (or sadness, or fear.) that little seed in your heart that feels like it's always in mourning, even when life seems fine. When you fight it or deny its existence, it's terrifying; when you learn to live around it it becomes benign in a way. it's still there, but it's always been there, and you know you'll be fine anyways. You can go back down to hell if you want, give your chronic lowkey sadness/human condition some company (or maybe it keeps you up at night). but you know it's not going to consume you anymore, it's not out for your soul. It's just a part of you. You stay for a day or a week and then you move on, again.
