I've submitted what I could figure out (with zero certainty, and one line I couldn't figure out at all) of the lyrics to the April '78 home demo version on the deluxe edition of Three Imaginary Boys (a good performance, though a lousy recording!). I'm assuming this is the one that MaskOfSanity mentioned, written by Tolhurst, with the longer lines. It also has a couple other differences, including, appropriately, the absence of the phrase "stopped short." I hope people will look and perhaps someone out there will be able to come up with a guess as to what the mystery line is. :)
