In My Feelings Lyrics

In My Feelings addresses the age-old scourge of rich men: gold-digging women. From Kanye’s “Gold Digger” to Cee Lo Green’s “F**k You,” we’ve heard a similar battle cry from several artists in different genres and styles. Now Drake is ready to speak on the subject, in a rather intense sounding rap song.

I think that the most prominent part of this song is the fact that he sings to multiple different women in different parts of the song. While he is asking them to profess their love for him and promise they won’t leave, they’re off shopping with his money “like [they] earned it.” It seems as though Drake can’t find someone who can see that he’s still a person with feelings and not just a celebrity with money.

I personally love (what I consider to be) his grandest plea in the song: “look, the new me is really still the real me.” His humanity and his feelings haven’t disappeared with his fame and fortune, quite the contrary; they have made him more cautious and guarded against gold-digging women.

Just to add insult to injury, about half a minute after Drake is finished singing, there is a clip of a woman talking about how she wants a picture with Drake solely to boost her Instagram account. After hearing that, it’s easy to understand his concerns.
