I see so many people say this is a happy song about him marrying his wife and starting a new stage of his life, but I've never seen that from this song. To me, this strikes me as a very unhappy song, about a man who doesn't want to be married.

Share one more drink with me, smile even though you're sad'. Just a few, rather clear examples this isn't a song about happily getting married.
As well, the chorus strikes me as almost being sarcastic 'The death of a bachelor, seems so fitting for happily ever after. How could I ask for more?' It makes me feel like he acknowledges this should be a happy occasion, but it isn't, and he's sarcastically asking "How could I ask for more?"
