I think this song could go two ways. Obviously wasted means drunk and such, so he could be talking about how him and his love are constantly getting overdosed and damaging their relationship. However, this song also could mean that he believes he screws up his relationships by trying too hard or too little, so why is he still in love and hoping this love will work out.
