I think 'we stand upon a floating world / simply staving off the truth' is a reference to human ignorance / unconscious avoidance of certain existential realisations; the absurdity of life and the way we often commit 'philosophical suicide' by trying to draw too much meaning from things. I don't think it would make sense for life to make sense, from within the 'living' perspective.
