Rat Fink Lyrics

None of the Misfits had any part any part in writing it, because it's a cover. Sort of. I'll explain. There was a song called "Rag Mop" that was first written and recorded in 1949 by Tulsa Western Swing bandleader Johnnie Lee Wills and steel guitarist Deacon Anderson. Make no mistake, it was called "Rag Mop" with just one "g" in the word "Rag". The lyrics, however, went "R-A-G-G M-O-P-P...Rag Mop".

It was a novelty song, popular throughout the 50's. Comedy writer Allan Sherman covered / parodied "Rag Mop" as a B-Side to his most famous song "Camp Granada" in 1963 under the name "Rat Fink". Note that the song title only uses one "t" in the word "rat". The only thing he changed was that he said "R-A-T-T-F-I-N-K...Rat Fink". The rest of the lyrics remained the same as "Rag Mop".

The Misfits covered Allan Sherman's parody. Now you can all stop arguing about the spelling of the song and what it means. it means nothing. It's a playful parody...and a cover of one at that.
