Lyric discussion by chasingyesterday

Cover art for Lois Lane lyrics by Franz Ferdinand

The new album is pretty good. Lois Lane being one of my favorites.

There is this whole idea that to find happiness, is to make the world a better place. So this girl buys into that thinking (put upon by a figure that the guy has always seen as a quack), and gets a career in journalism.

In the end it's probably exhausting work that she doesn't enjoy. She doesn't have the chops to move up in the system and become a name that people enjoy to read. And so now she's a 30-something who feels ashamed of having wasted her twenties on a goal that she was never going to achieve.

My Interpretation

@chasingyesterday yes, that seems to fit. girlfriend started singing "at the over 30s single night" this morning and I laughed and shivered at the same time at how astute the lyric was.
