Beeswing is a crude that is purified to make cream of tartar. Taken in too large of a quantity, cream of tartar can have a sour taste (and adverse health effects). The narrator nearly confirms the intentional misuse of the term beeswing when referring to the sense of taste in the final verse. Sour and painful or not, he misses the girl and would go there again without hesitation.
