I saw them live a couple of times. Best show was in Boulder, Co in 1991 or 1992. The concert was FANTASTIC. I danced front row with my gal pals the whole show. Every time they paused to talk things over between songs- I'd yel, "Does She Talk". They did not play it UNTIL as their very final encore song- they played it. I got the feeling Matthew Sweet did not want to play it but it has such a strong driving sound & it is dirty - so I LOVE it. The crowd went crazy over it- I don't believe most of them knew the words- or even cared. My interpretation is that he is singing about using a blow up doll & "toys" because the porn channel isn't working. I think he keeps her hidden in a lock box which is why he needs a key to her heart. He gets into it cuz it is sex, man but is also turned off that having a sex doll is a pervy thing?! Anyway- that is my take on it. I write this in 2018 & still listen to my CD "Girlfriend" often. My tween kiddos like his music too but none of their pals know him, of course. I think it is so much fun to turn my kids on to my old favorites like "Driv'n n' Cryin' " "Crowded House" "Simply Red" "Stevie Ray Vaughn" Lynyrd Skynyrd" "ELO" and "Ben Folds Five" etc.
