Cover art for Just Let Go lyrics by Sturgill Simpson

In the very core of spirituality is the notion that once you let go of your self-centerness you find a way to relate to the world and other beings in the deepest, most meaningful sense. This is also terrifying thing to do because it dissolves all boundaries and lets the world come in. Sturgill is playing with the idea sincerely though using ironic references to the Buddhist thought. He is saying that you hould open up to the world in order to live more fully.

Song Meaning

@Dayvan-cowboy I like your perspective on this song. I posted the other one here. Sturgill, like myself must have found great relief in Buddhism and I think a lot of it helped him come back from some addiction he was battling many years ago. This entire album appears to be his fight back from that place of helplessness. I can attest. Loves the only thing that ever saved my life
