Lyric discussion by Monachopsis

I interpreted this song as someone struggling with self-depreciating thoughts brought on by anxiety or bullying. The "I'm ugly, no one finds me attractive" thoughts or less obvious, personal traits of oneself.

My main reason is the voices toward the end:

"Nothing is more important than what people think about you."

  • Which is a mindset a lot of people struggle with. The whole, 'I have to act proper at all times, I can never embarrass myself, I have to look 100% at all times, etc.' business.

"The worry, the wonder, it's all worth it."

  • The idea that struggling to be someone you aren't to blend into society and to doctor yourself up with makeup (in this context, for the sake of others' opinions and not yourself) is all worthwhile. It's worth the anxiety, pain, and misery.

"Hearing your words out of my mouth again"

  • These words could have first been heard by himself -or rather, his mind- or by an outsider. After hearing the words, he started to believe them and speak them about himself, too.

"Return all of this to sender" -This seems more of the battle to start overcoming the negative mindsets. He seems to intend to start ignoring or rejecting the ideas anxiety/bullies are leading him to believe.
