Country songs are often about a cheating spouse. This song came out in 1993 - the book "Women are from Venus, Men are from Mars" came out in 1992. My guess is that the author is saying that he ignored his wife (staring at used cars) so she had an affair. He doesn't seem to be too terribly upset about it. He indicates that he might have an affair too, but if he does "he'll keep it to himself". All in all, a pretty sad country song along the same lines as "Your Cheatin' Heart" but funny because it's in "code".
