You all are missing something very important---the broken old neon sign that used to read jesus saves is above a homeless shelter in Wittier California. At the end of the block is a church that is very anti-gay (Bret is gay supportive). From the front door of the homeless shelter you can see multi-million dollar homes. That part is about income inequality, discrimination, and using god to endorse hate. Bravo to Poison for having the courage to stand up for equality. I met Brett briefly years later. I served him a drink. He is an amazing person.

I might be wrong but i listen to this song because to me it means that everything in your life is always going wronge and filled with false hope, loss, and disappointments and we all cry out for God to help us and give us something to really believe in that's honest, true, and has a meaningfully good ending.
