For me, this is a story about someone that unsure about their relationship. He doesnt know about what to do, what decision to make. He wanted to reach more in life, but doesnt want to let her go as well. Those confusion makes him question everything about her, about their relationship. He couldn't choose hence he asked her to make make a decision for herself, to save her soul from getting hurt by him.
