Don't Let Him Go

i’m a little confused about the message in this song. This singer of all people has a tendency to write about his insecure ways with women. Even their biggest song ‘keep on loving you’ is admittedly about an imaginary girl. The guy in this song (‘don’t let him go’) sounds like a douche bag to me. Also their song ‘tough guys’ for instants pokes fun at the kind of guy he is writing about in this song, yet the lyrics here encourage women to stay with such a guy. Help me here
