The only reason this song is not commented on is that in The U.K at the time there was an overabundance of talented bands that started with The Stone Roses, Happy Monday's etc. and developed into what's known as Britpop of the 1990's. The Longpigs without doubt had it all. Except enuf airplay An money behind their P.R... London radio was only jus then getting its own indie FM radio station. XFM (a former pirate radio station) but Too little too late. Crazy but true. The perfect screaming of Longpigs lead singer Crispen (can u get anymore of a middle class English name than that) An good looks should have catapulted him into stardom. God this guy can sing. This song in my opinion defines the britpop era wen I hear it. As do Oasis songs. I think this song is about identity. And girlfriends who are jus happy to be ornaments. Rather than have a real identity of their own. The continued success-failure of brilliant bands like the Longpigs and Shed 7's song, She Left me On Friday....Was caused by lack of a indie FM stations early on.
