I understand this is about that moment in life in which you realize you don’t know how things got so bad, and you’re contemplating your lack of control and total responsibility for things falling apart. When you’ve been doing things for reasons you don’t even understand, when you realize your decisions are all wrong and nothing makes sense anymore, and that you’ve managed to alienate the ones who mattered the most to you. When you glimpse at the thought that you might have let the love of your life slip away.
It may sound like a greek tragedy kind of thing, but I couldn’t even begin to say how real this is. It seems J Mascis has entered my head and my broken heart and written down every thought of the last few weeks. I can only assume letting life and love pass you by is something many people share, only some are desperately talented like J, and make such beautiful songs like this one.
