I can't help noticing how Robert Smith keeps expressing the feeling that "this is the end"...yet even today, he's still out there. Still, I doubt the Cure will be making any more studio albums. Then again (standard disclaimer...), I'm not the only person who's said that — and turned out to be wrong — before.
One of the (many) things I find remarkable about him is how he seems to have managed to rise back from the depths of [emotional] pain (I don't usually pay much attention to the personal lives of artists, but I get the impression from quite a few of his lyrics that he's suffered from depression more than once or twice in his life) and yet continue forward as an artist. After all these years, he still has the wonderful creative energy that I so admire, even though he's often felt like quitting.
