This song is about breaking free from "samsara", the cycle of aimless drifting or suffering. A key concept in eastern religions, especially in Buddhism. By seeing through the illusion of the self or "ego" one can liberate oneself from the eternal suffering and reach nirvana, or enlightenment.

"I could put aside my pride and ego fixation. I've the devil on my side (= ego) For life's duration. A world of ignorance and lies Personification?" (= the illusion of the self)

Another concept from Buddhism is that the source of our happiness, love or light lies within ourselves. "Light, we generate inside" But this source is mostly covered up (clouded) by the delusions generated by the self/ego. But when we let go of all our delusions (shadows) we discover the eternal source of love and happiness within ourselves.

"Love Still Remains, Shadows Decay. Love still remains, Time melts away."

"Time melts away" refers to the illusion of time. In most schools of Buddhism it is understood that the way we experience time - as flowing from past to present to future - also is an illusion. It could be said that the liberation of Nirvana is liberation from time and space.
