Agape is not just love in the general sense. There are 3 words in classical Greek that are interpreted as love. Agape is the highest level and refers to the love God has for his people or people for God. It also includes higher concepts such as the love of truth or wisdom. Patriotism and love of country may also be included in the term agape.

I think the song is really about that quest for meaning, for truth and understanding. If it was about love for lost romance or something the term agape would not have been used.
