I can't remember where I read this, but I do remember reading that Deron enjoyed writing lyrics based off of classic Horror characters and that these lyrics was an intimate description of what it is like to be a vampire, forced into a life without intimacy, mortality, and love.
Obviously, he is putting some of his personal context into the lyrics. It is a beautiful song with beautiful lyrics and a wonderful way to close out an outstanding album.
