I think this song is about a girl who is in love with a boy who wants all the attention. I knew a boy (we weren't in love) he was always talking loud, making jokes and trying (from my point of view) to get attention and I thought we was always mean because of the things he said but after listening to this song, I realized the line, "You're not mean, you just want to be seen" describes him perfectly. In the song, the boy goes to party and live for the thrills to gain attention and fit him and make people love him. "Shiny like a metal, cold and unsure" I think it means he knows he has all the attention but he tries to take it off of him when he knows he wants it, and so does everyone else around him. The boy I know who who reminds me of this song has a girl that hangs around him, it's pretty clear they will never be together because he likes everyone the same way and she will never be anything more to him. I don't know why anyone hasn't commented on this. I always wanted to know the meaning of this song and I think I finally know it. Im not sure so please don't hate all I know is i love this song!
