(What I personally take from this song, so not a true interpretation)
I believe the song focus on girlfriend that has either cheated or left the protagonist, furthermore the protagonist has realized he has 2 choices:
a) forget her and move on with his life or
b) chosen to be spiteful and alone, e.g. 'I don’t wanna live in a world like this'
This line from the lyrics indicates that he has lost hope and chosen to go with option b.
Another thing stated in the lyrics is that this event took place a long time ago, the lines 'With constant blurring I’ll forget your face; Memories fading without a trace' states this.
I like to think that the song shows the protagonists passion towards how cruel relationships can be when people change as they can grow apart.
P.S. I know its not the most correct statement, but I visualize this when I listen to the song, often using my own memories to put the puzzle together.
