Lazaretto Lyrics

My work is like wood and plaster? I wonder if the Lazaretto is the Mexican ghetto in Detroit. Lazarus is of course the guy Jesus raises from the dead, seriously. Id think it was like a folk song about Mexican laborer, except that the address of the Jack white hub is down in the Lazaretto. Ok, Third Man Records is in the Mexican neighborhood in Detroit. Lazaretto is little (male) Lazarus. The Phoenix rises from the ashes in an image of the resurrection. But the true images do have diabolic opposites.

Amusing that God is called She, and women in this album have become tyrants. What happened to equality? A brief stop on the way to Feminine superiority? O perhaps they must now show that wicked witches are equally tyrants.

@mmcdonald Escape from prison and rising from the ashes are images of the same, like Lazarus. The Isle of Man is literally off the coast of England, but here it means mankind, and maybe the opposite of "no man is an island."

@mmcdonald He's so Detroit he'll rise from the ashes. So what happened to the White Stripes drummer, anyway?
