The song lyrics were written solely by Chris in 2015 so it must have been a current relationship he was involved in or witnessing. The relationship sounds tumultuous. And that it had him on an emotional rollercoaster.

Sounds as if he believes someone was getting this better of him and he felt trapped...

This was a 52 yr old man. A grown man with many experiences under his belt.
He travelled the world. Made a great living doing what he loved.
But he wasn't happy, deep down.
I hate it when people feel forced to wear a mask or "fake it" so I'm just gonna say it- fame & fortune can't buy you love.
And even though, it might have looked like he had it all- maybe he didnt' really feel valued or loved and it crushed him?

CC once believed she was the real thing, that she truly loved him, but it was the money she loved. He was abused, mentally/emotionally/likely physically, probably for years. Sorry that you had an intuitive moment with him, as I am certain many people did, but no one managed to convince him to "GET OUT" before she managed to pull off her stunt. The "It was suicide" cry for me act. She knew he had a history of depression and played on that fact. She believes she is sooo smart/cunning but she's just a twisted, sick money hungry golddigger. It was ALL in the video. I just pray the polics can put all the evidence together and charge her with solicitation of murder, conspiracy to commit murder and whatever else the can pull together.
