Pretty sure nobody checks these anymore, but I believe this song is a simplistic discussion with anybody and everybody, we all have moments in life when we feel invincible like we have it all figured out, we don't listen to anyone, and we just do. We also have moments in life when we are down and out, and feel the world hates us, and is an unfriendly place. The moral of the story is that only after failure can you truly succeed, and you have to be OK to Sink if you want to Swim. Like any motivational quite, you miss 100% of the shots you don't take, Michael Jordan missed however many game winning baskets etc.
This song is simply Brandon or whomever speaking to everyone, a specific person and or himself, telling them sometimes, we just need to sink, undo what we know, and start a new. Let the Second Sun Ascend

@TullyPoops good interpretation ... well thought out and written. Thanks for sharing (and now you know at least someone checked)
