This song is pretty obviously about his longing for a girl he liked that left town, possibly someone elses girlfriend/friend, note the -"Things of her you left lying around"- and -"empty letter from another town"-.... And Elliott could go after her if he wanted to, he's -"Good to Go"- but he decides to play it safe -"if i wasnt such a zero"-
