I've always imagined this is a song about the dangers of falling in love with a Goddess. Poor Solomon never stood a chance. It was amazing at first, but he's been done with life for thousands of years, and she won't let him go.
This fits nicely with the "mythological" feel of other songs on this album, specifically "Angel".
I do also like the idea that song is the end of a very long relationship, long past its youthful vigor and romance, but still important to the singer.
