Om is a mantra used in Hindu, Buddhist and other philosophies. It is the sound one should make when dying, a last breath which is believed to result freedom from Samsara, the cycle of birth, death and rebirth. It is believed by some that saying "om" upon one's last breath sends their spirit directly to the source, the clear light, nirvana, universal oneness, eternal peace. People die every day, people meditate every day, this sound literally is with us every day. Some believe it to be the true name of God. The mention of heaven and "I know why the skies will cry" (rain), perhaps that is the sign from the source that a soul has returned to it, "gone to heaven" as it were. It's ultimately about freedom from suffering, from maya (illusions of separation), nirvana/the freedom that comes with enlightenment. It could also be about ego death, something which is necessary in order to obtain enlightenment, as Eckhart Tolle once wrote "the goal is to die while still alive", this is part of the meaning of what it means to be enlightened, to be free.
