Question: What's the deal with the religious representations in the video? He doesn't address it directly, but is he referring to simpler/more humble times back in Jesus' day? Am I over-thinking this?
@ybbob it could mean that hes directly referring to people (like other rappers in his level or even just people who aren't humble at all and view themselves as "god" or "a god".

@ybbob I believe you're correct on the religious aspect he try's to interpret in the video. It's much deeper than most people understand. I believe Kendrick is trying to get the modern society today to understand and get on his level of mentality that there is nothing more real or reality-like than living life more spiritually and loving such as god wants us to. I believe the examples he spits out throughout the song are just him showing his abilities and effects he has in life from being on that "next level" spiritually. "Ima let my soul speak, you just...

"Ima let my soul speak, you just let the meds talk" I believe is his way of exposing those who low key know "the truth" but just think as themselves as crazy and cope with medication while he, on the other end, has accepted gods truth and "wants" for us on earth. He makes you think of the humble times back in Jesus's day, as you said, because he believes today's reality and society has been "distracted" if you will. Distracted by influences such as media, social media, "fake" people, the selfish acts of people, misguided values, and modern technology that makes us lazy, distract us, and lose sight of our actual real purpose on earth. (Distractions = possibly the devils doing/satanists) Which in his eyes, the real purpose on earth, is living in the name of god and living through his real purpose he put us here for. Kendrick has a famous quote for something akin the lines of "god put us all here together to love and spread amongst all" and to guide the misguided. As he is attempting to do. You think I got too deep or too hippie if you want but those are my beliefs on kendricks "actions" of you will

@ybbob It's a nice juxtaposition with the idea of telling someone else to be humble compared to yourself, as in this song
