"I guess that hasn't changed someone
Maybe nobody else could understand
I guess that you believe you are a woman
And that I am someone else's man"
I'd always thought about the lyrics above in this way:
In an attempt to understand why the guy is leaving her, she tries to put herself in his shoes. Maybe she thinks he doesn't feel like the "right" elements are there for the relationship to continue. Perhaps he believes she's not the one for him, but actually belongs to someone else. That someone else would be "better" for her. In so thinking that way, his purported view of their now defunct relationship takes on a very feminine, if you will, perspective.
@AFae - I imagine she cheated on her man and he left her. She thinks that be believes her heart belongs to someone else, but her heart is not free of the song's object regardless of any cheating she did.

To me, she sounds like a person who wanted to find a different relationship, and only then let go of "this one" in due time, but he left her before she was able to let go and now she feels stuck, unable to let go.
