Lyric discussion by GwiberWyrdd

I always thought the lyric was "put on your hair, put on your pout, " which I thought sounded like a way of referring to preparing oneself for some activity (playing a gig, e.g. — or, yes, meeting somebody for a date and/or sex) as a persona (who someone(s) want(s) you to be) that you have to "put on," like a costume, instead of just being who you really are. I only just looked at the insert with the lyrics (yup, I have the actual album, not just the digital version — I know, I'm dreadfully old-fashioned, but what do you expect? I bought it in 1989!) after seeing that the words here aren't what I thought they were — and of course the words on this site are correct. (You can also find lyrics that you can be certain are right at the Cure's official website, thecure.com.)

"Pulling on" your hair and your pout could mean pretty much the same thing, though, so alas my late-acquired knowledge doesn't give me any new deep insights.
