Correcting them lends a whole new interpretation, which for me has to do with the pain of finding someone you know who would be your soulmate but the love is unrequited/unreturned. The person of interest has been hurt too much, has wrapped their heart in razor wire metaphorically. He wants to release her from this (find a way, a way out), and (metaphorically we hope) consume her heart and do some writhing about.
