There seems to be a fair few religious connotations in the song. Such as "Men of Earth" as if the narrator is looking down on us (like a God).
"Serpent's venom runs inside of you" - the serpent is used sometimes to refer to the Devil (serpent in Garden of Eden etc.) , then goes on to talk about lust (one of the seven sins).
"Lift you up from the bottom" ... out of hell??
Then the obvious "Who is your God?"
However I can't really see a religious message to the song, other than as @Dave_Mcclain suggests. It doesn't seem to offer salvation or that God is the answer. So perhaps the religious connotations are simply used as metaphors and to create vivid imagery.
I personally think the song is about removing yourself from the material / selfish / lustful nature of humanity ... be more, be better, don't follow suit remove yourself from these follies of man.
